Your Soap Life Cycle

Sarah, (The Soaper), wanted quality products without the environmental impact of using plastic. After lots of research and trials she now specialises in making olive oil soaps that help replenish the naturally occurring oils in your skin, helping to protect it and restore balance.

The Soaper products are free from harmful chemicals that are commonly found in today’s commercial body washes and soaps, this means they are perfect to use on your whole body.

The Soaper New Zealand is proud to bring back aged old traditions of quality cold processed oil soap. Cold process means there is no cooking or heating of any products, so we get to maintain all the original goodness and qualities of the products we handpick.

We source ethical and high quality oils then put them through a process called ‘saponification’. Sounds soapy right, well there is a lot less bubbles involved in this process. Our gorgeous healthy oils are mixed with a lye solution and we whiz it together, it soon turns creamy and looks like liquid gold. At this stage we we add our natural mica pigments, essential oils, fragrances or the yummy clays or activated charcoal. We leave it overnight to allow it to harden.

The next day we take out the soap and hand cut it, which is why every bar is unique and different. Sarah is a creative cutter (she's more of a creative type - hence why straight lines aren't really her strong suit).

While we intend to make each batch of soap have the same look its always fun seeing how it turns out - some have swirls and fun streaks and others are one solid colour - but dont worry, every bar has the same perfect high quality ingredients in it to look after your skin.

We then leave the newly cut bars of soap to dry out more and cure over the next 8 weeks and then package it up in our eco friendly wrapping in order to get it to you.

Care Instructions:

We make sure that your soap is nice and cured and hard for you to use, and when its cared for it can last up to 2 times longer than most plastic bottle soaps. So the best way to get the most out of your bar is to use a soap rack or soap bag to allow your soap dry out between washes.

As per any product and especially any soap its best to avoid getting this in your eyes, but if you do immediately wash out thoroughly with warm water and if you are worried please contact a medical professional.

Environmental Care & How You Help

All of our soaps are handmade in Auckland, New Zealand. Both the bar and the packaging are fully compostable.

All of our packaging is from our friends at No Issue who use recycled and environmentally friendly products.  By using No Issue, The Soaper is part of the Global  Eco-Packaging Alliance - so your purchase of our products contribute to global re-forestation. The packaging is also home compostable - and will break down in 90 - 180 days.

A bar of our soap, if cared for properly will last approx 2 months, which saves on average an estimated 2 plastic bottles per bar of soap. Which equates to 12 plastic bottles ending up in a landfill. The environment will thank you, and your skin will too.
